Insulate yourself winter is coming

Now that the sun has almost set on summer, the predictions for the upcoming winter have started to trickle in like the first cool breaths under the door and through the floorboards. But it doesn’t have to be like that.

It has been said that Australia is headed for one of the coldest winters on record. This forecast, made by amateur meteorologist David Taylor, predicts that we will experience extremely low temperatures, and more than our fair share of snowfall[1]. Mr Taylor claims the extremely cool weather will impact most of the country. Known to have correctly predicted major weather events in the past, Mr Taylor uses a special formulaic method based on sunspot activity, Global Forecast System modelling and the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast.

With the oncoming winter snap about to blanket the country, now is a good time to discuss how best to make your home as warm as possible. Of course there is always the solutions involving heaters and ducted air-conditioning for when the deep cold sets in. However, one of the first concerns for most owners is the cost of electricity. Many people become afraid to turn on their heating because they believe they can actually hear the money being drained from their account as their home is being warmed.

Although electricity can be expensive, there are ways in which you can ensure you get the most out of your heating appliances.
